Balance Your Plate

March is National Nutrition Month! The perfect time to check what’s on your plate-

  • Do you have multiple foods on your plate?
  • Is it balanced?
  • Do you see different colors? I’m not talking about food dye…
  • Are the foods unprocessed?
  • Who prepared the food?
  • Where did the food come from?
  • Did you appreciate the aromas?
  • Does it taste good?
  • Will your food choices move you closer to your goals?

Below is a simple image of what I believe a balanced plate looks like. You can read more about the components of a healthy, nourishing plate in a post I wrote last year when MyPlate was released by the USDA and an article I wrote for active.com, How to Make MyPlate My Own. In about 30 minutes I’ll be on KVOA to show you three deliciously balanced meals–check it out with live streaming at http://www.kvoa.com/livestream/.

This month I will explore balanced meals and snacks that are tasty and nourishing. Stay tuned for more!

  1. Hi Kristen,Thank you for pointing that out. Wonderful blgeogr software. I tried to fix, but it won’t take it. So I just put your site on the bottom of the post with comment mentioning broken links.I’m working on a new site, so I can finally bid blgeogr farewell. This is my busy time of year, so it’s not going as fast as I would like. But I will have it ready over the course of the next 3 weeks or so. I’ll keep you posted. That will also have a visible email adress. Thank you for that advice.Have a great weekend.MarcMarc Feel Good Eating
